Hvar is a town with harbor in the amazing bay in the northwest coast at island Hvar. The biggest town and tourist resort is on of the most favourite destinations in Dalmatia. Hvar has 2715 hours of sunshine in year with beautiful azure sea. During centuries became to be a monument. Hvar’s amazing square with cathedral is one of the most beautiful in Dalmatia. The tourism started to developed in year 1903, when was the first hotel built. Hotels offer special discounts in winter time in case that is snowing, fog or freezing. The ferry going Split – Hvar – Vela Luka – Uble does not transport cars, just passengers. Hvar became to be important part in the middle Ages. The wall around the town was built in 15th century. Remains of the west town gate are still there. The fort Spanjol was built on the hill in year 1557. The fort Napoleon built Frances at hill St. Nikol in year 1810 (today astronomical observatory) and fort Baterija was built near monastery. Armory (the biggest architectonic monument in Croatia) was built during years 1579 and 1611. The floor, which was rebuilt in year 1612, is today the oldest hall in the Europe. In the armoury is also gallery of modern art. The cathedral of St. Stjepan from 16th and 17th century and bishop palace are located in the center of the town. The fountain from year 1520 is situated at square, in the front of the cathedral. The monastery and church from year 1471 are located in the southeast part of the town. The church is decorated and has a museum and art collection. Calendar-clock with bell from year 1562, town building from year 1479 located in the town, and the summer residency of Hanibal Luciee is another interesting place at Hvar.
