With 345 participants gathered in Stari Grad Paklenica-weekend 9.izdanje Velebit trekking adventure racing is the most massive ever.
The competition was divided in up to 4 weight classes (Jogging 10 km, 27 km hiking, mountain 45 km Super and Ultra 100km) which enables the participation of all lovers of movement in the nature of tourists and recreationists to the most durable athlete. Velebit trekking was the main race of the season Trekking League, also the first Croatian Open Championship in trekking and is scored as qualifying races for the world’s most prestigious race Ultra Trail Mont Blanc 2012th In addition, the race has a memorial character because it is dedicated to all veterans on the battlefields of Velebit 1991.-1995.g..
With the start of the village of Stari Grad Marasović first started contestants Ultra categories who have had the hardest task - to overcome a total of 100 km Velebit challenging terrain to Karlobag 5.500m with the rise in 36-hour limit. Reaching the target for only 16 hours and 53 minutes absolute winner who win the title of “King” Velebit among 80 competitors in this category has become Lesjak Goran, while the title of “Queen” Velebit Krušec Tadeja won with a score of 22 hours and 31 minutes.
Winners in other categories are: Marusic Domagoj Super mountain (07:33), Saric Viktor in the mountain (04:36) and Katanec Matko Jogging in the category (01:03).
The race was organized by the Club Multisport adventure sports and co-organized by the association of veterans of special police unit Alfa.
Considering Velebit trekking project of great sports, tourism and ecological significance of the unique way of promoting the Velebit and all potential opportunities for active tourism development in these areas provided the same support and the CA Starigrad.
