Economy is based on farming, livestock breeding, metal, textile and wood industries and building material production. The castle on the top of Spas was the residency of Croatian kings, including the last one, Petr Svacic, who died at Gvoz (present Petrova gora). It was the one of the biggest castles in Dalmatia. In the immediate vicinity of the town are the source of the Krka River and the boundary of the national park bearing the same name. Very interesting are the Krka waterfalls (22 m) near Topolje.
